Using EZCalendar: Once you have EZCalendar installed and set up, you can start to use it! Opening EZCalendar: You create bring up EZCalendar (see “The EZCalendar Window”) at any time by typing the “Hotkey” set for the “Open EZCalendar” option (the default “Hotkey” is Control-Option-F14, if you want to change it to another key, see the “Setting Up EZCalendar” chapter above). For this example, you'd hold down the Control key and the Option key and hit the F14 function key. You should now see a window similar to Figure 3. Click and hold the mouse button down on any day. This will bring up a popup menu which allows you to add/edit daily notes, appointments and/or yearly events. The menu options are: Create Daily Note Create Daily Appointment Create Yearly Events Adding/Editing a Daily Note: While the EZCalendar window is open, you click on the day where you wish to add or edit a note, and hold down the mouse button. You will now get a popup menu which has several options, select the “Create Daily Note” option. This will bring up a window that allows you to enter text. If you check the “Private” check box in the lower right (and if you have a password set, see “Customizing EZCalendar” below) the note will be password protected. Click the “OK” button to save any changes. Adding/Editing a Daily Appointment: While the EZCalendar window is open, you click on the day you wish to add or edit a note and hold down the mouse button. You will now get a popup menu which has several options, select the “Create Daily Appointment” option. This will bring up a dialog with a list of all appointments for that day (see Figure 5).   Figure 5 - Appointment List Dialog From this dialog you can add, edit or remove any appointments. To add a new appointment, click the “New” button or type Command-N. Now, you will see a dialog which you will enter text to identify the event (see Figure 6). Enter the time of the event, select AM or PM. Next, choose if you wish to have an alarm (by selecting an item from the “Notify” popup menu). You can choose to have no alarm for the appointment by selecting the “Do not notify” option, or you can choose to have an alarm come up however many minutes, hours or days before the appointment by selecting the appropriate option and typing in a number. If you wish to have a sound played (any sound in your system), select the sound from the “Sound” popup menu. That’s it!   Figure 6 - Appointment Set Dialog Adding/Editing a Yearly Event: Yearly events work exactly the same way as the appointments do (see above) except these events happen every year on the same date (such as birthdays, some holidays, etc.). Search EZCalendar: You can have EZCalendar search for any text in your daily notes, appointments and/or yearly events! Just type the “Hotkey” set for the “Search EZCalendar” option (the default “Hotkey” is Control-Option-F15, if you want to change it to another key, see the “Setting Up EZCalendar” chapter above). For this example, you'd hold down the Control key, the Option key and hit the F15 function key. Type in the text you’d like to search for and hit the “Find” button (see “Searching” below for more information on search options).
